A good player is someone who uses strategy before they act. They quickly plan out their best route to get to the targeted goal. They learn from their mistakes, and can adjust their strategies as needed.

A good game is one that inspires kids to want to participate. They are already pre-planning and ready to get started, sometimes before you've even finished the directions. It challenges them in such a way that they need gain information and learn something through each step. A good game should also be fun, and when it ends kids are looking forward to playing again, and talking over the game's components to better themselves for next time.

The kind of player who will be most successful in my room is one that listens well, asks clarifying questions, looks for guidance from others, shares their thoughts and discoveries with others, and can critique their own performance as well as others, in a constructive way.

Nice post. The use of strategy is important and when they enjoy the game and want to play again you know you've hit the ball out of the park!

I like how you spoke of having strategy before the game. It seems that that is a method that we use everyday when approaching any activity. I didn't initially think about this point, but you are exactly right!!
