Infinite Campus is designed under the assumption that teachers will only have access to their own students. The fact that we decided to allow teachers to access ALL students in the buiding regardless of whether or not they teach those students is highly unusual. The benefit is that any teacher can find information about any student. The drawback is that when searching for students, the teacher sees all students. This is a decision we made, and we need to take the bad with the good. If we had not made this decision and teachers only had access to the students on their roster, then this would not be an issue.

There are four ways for teachers to check the report card scores for their kids.

1) Search for each student and use StudentInfo->General->Grades. If you leave this on the grades tab and search for the next student, it will automatically stay with the Grades tab, so as long as you know the students on your roster this really is rather quick. Click search, type the single letter that starts the student's last name, click Go, click the student. IF we had not turned on Unfiltered Search, then clicking Search->Go would have only brought up the kids on the teacher's roster and the teacher would have been able to just click each student, but we made the choice that teachers could search for all students.

2) Use Grading&Standards->Reports->GradesReport. In this report you can select a Grade and a Teacher. This will give a report for each student in that grade showing the Report Card Grades for every class that lists the selected Teacher. To see "specials", the homeroom teacher needs to be listed as a secondary teacher on the Course->Section of the Special. Leave Grading Tasks set to ALL, it will only print those that apply. Select one or more Grading Terms. Select one or more Teachers. Choose to have the results grouped by Student. Tick the box for a page break between students.

3) Use Grading&Standards->Reports->Report Card. In this report you can choose a grade level and have the results grouped by Teacher. You'll still have to filp through other's classes to get to your own, but when you get to your kids they'll all be together. Select a Report Card. Select a matching Grade. Checkmark "Active Only" and set a date if you want to exclude students who move away prior to that date. Select Sort By Teacher and leave the radio button set to AM.

4) You'll notice that both #2 and #3 have the option of choosing students based on an Ad-Hoc Filter. A fourth option is to create an Ad-Hoc Filter that represents the Roster for each Homeroom teacher. This would effectively do the same thing as if Unfiltered Search were turned off. However, it will be the responsibility of the building secretary to maintain the Ad-Hoc Filters, which means every time a student changes it would have to be changed here as well.
