Has the goal of this game been reached? Not by me. I didn't learn how everyday choices affect migrating birds, but what I did learn is exactly what i don't want in a computer game for my targeted audience, k-2. The reward just wasn't there for me. I didn't feel good when I moved my fingers faster, I just moved my fingers faster. I want my kids to acquire knowledge and be rewarded for it, that feels good. I have watched them work hard at basic skills, climb levels and they can hardly stand themselves they are so happy. I want to provide more of that, enjoyment, self-confidence, willingness to take it further. I didn't get that from this game.
Essential questions for me?
1. was it really all about the speed?
2. how could I make it better?

Cecilia,
I think that your criteria for the game are everyone's dream! Do you think that this game - with its numerous drawbacks, alas - can be part of something else, something bigger, which provides all that enjoyment, self-confidence, willingness to take it further, and a good part of that at the same time? Or is this game thumbs down regardless of how you look at it?

There are many things I would do differently. First I appreciated the sounds but more audio in regards to the environmental hazards would have been good. I found myself just looking for the good and bad symbols with no regard for what they actually stood for, good or bad. To me they were more, go to, or stay away from symbols. Warning sounds or verbal reminders might stick with kids a little better. I appreciated the visuals.

Cecelia,

Yes, I felt the same way. I was so busy figuring out arrows and keys that I didn't learn anything about bird migration. I never did figure out how to navigate the birds safely.
