How does having a good education change your way of life? How is life in Haiti harder than life in Portland, Maine?
What is the "best" form of energy? What criteria makes it the best?
The game set in Haiti was REALLY hard! Without education, they couldn't get a decent paying job, but you couldn't get an education without a decent paying job. I did not do very well on this game! Life in Haiti is definitely harder than in Portland. For one, we have a better economic climate. We also have several supports in place that assist people to attend colleges and universities. In addition, we have the added benefit of guaranteed public education for all children. What a difference that makes in lifestyle!! The best form of energy for me was the wind turbines. I liked them because they had limited environmental impact and provided a large amount of power.
What was the basis for your decision making was it the environmental impact? or economic? or something else?
I think the hydro power was a great source of energy, it keep my environmental impact to low. I tried to add more solar power but it told me it was too expensive and inefficient.
How do money and education affect your level of happiness? I didn't do very well in the "game" either. My family was too depressed to carry on and work. Maybe I should have asked "How does your level of happiness affect your wealth and education?".
The Energyville brought in a lot of my prior knowledge that I've learned about different forms of energy and the experiences I've had with some of them. How can this prior knowledge help students? If it isn't there then how will it hinder them? What environmental hazards do each form of energy pose to the environment? and the people building/working on them? How do the energy forms affect the community in which they are place in? How have energy forms transformed over the years, why are they transforming and are these newer forms more energy efficient and environmentally safe? How much power does our city need? Why are we dependent on foreign oil? How much energy do I need to use to be happy? What is acceptable pollution?
Is it ethical to require non-carbon neutral energy sources such as coal and petroleum?
Why is Chevron sponsoring an alt energy game?
