Freshman Seminar Course Description
FRESHMAN SEMINAR
Introduction: Freshman Seminar combines a class (for credit) designed to aid you in developing study and other skills, with a guided study hall to assist you in achieving academic success.
The class is 20 minutes, when Freshman Seminar takes place during an 80 minute period, with the remaining 60 minutes for the guided study hall. On days -- usually late start Wednesday -- when the seminar period is 60 minutes or less, there will be no class component.
You will be expected to work on academics during the guided study hall -- it is not a time for socializing. Talking should be limited to working with the teacher or another student on school work. If you have no work, you should plan to bring a book or otherwise use the time quietly.
I will be available to assist with any student on your World History work, including students not in my Freshman Seminar class. Likewise, you may go to another freshman seminar teacher to work with that teacher in the academic area he or she teaches. You will be expected to return to room 101, however, for the last 5 minutes of the Freshman Seminar.
You also may go to the library or the computer lab but only to work on a project using the resources available at those locations, not to socialize.
Passes will be issued when you leave the Seminar room and you will be expected to return with those passes signed.
